DIGITAL AND ANALOG SENSORS(up to 16 can be attached by using splitters) Note: The maximum combined cable length for all digital sensors connected to a single monitoring unit is 600ft, in total. Standard Temperature SensorMonitor temperature to identify hot spots, and adjust the ambient temperature of your data center to reduce cooling power consumption while increasing efficiency within ASHRAE guidelines. Use these accurate digital sensors to measure temperatures of critical locations in a server room. The small size and weight makes them easy to install where you need them. Stick one in the cabinet inlet and one in the outlet to diagnose air-flow problems. Put one in the A/C vent to detect problems at the source. Accurate to +/-0.5°C. Run them hundreds of feet from the Watchdog monitor. SRTs are improved temperature sensors which are encapsulated with a stainless steel sheath probe sealed with waterproof heat shrink tubing. This provides abrasion resistance and environmental protection against dust and moisture. This allows SRT temperature sensors to carry an IP67 rating, supporting applications related to cold storage and the ability to submerge these probes in water or glycol for liquid temperature monitoring. These are instant 'Plug & Play' sensors via one of the standard RJ-12 jacks on any Watchdog environmental monitor. A Watchdog environmental monitoring appliance cycles through the digital sensors to collect and log new readings. Custom alarms are triggered when a sensor value falls above or below a user-defined threshold. Alarm notifications are sent through email or SNMP. The standard temperature probe measures 1.25" (3.18 cm) in length. Watchdog digital sensors such as these SRTs communicate with Watchdog environmental monitors through a digital serial protocol. On those units that support digital sensors - up to 16 can be added by using splitters. The Watchdog environmental monitor auto detects the sensor type and identifies it on the web interface. Each digital sensor can be given a "friendly" name that can be set by the user. Sensors are available in several different lengths, however the total cable length of all digital sensors combined should not exceed 600 feet. Item # SRT-xx RTAFHD3-XX: All-in-one temperature/airflow/humidity/dew-point sensorProvides multiple remote environment readings as a complete packageBuilt to remotely monitor computer cabinet or server room conditions, remote temperature/airflow/humidity/dew-point sensor (RTAFHD3) provides real-time values and feeding data back to the Watchdog environmental monitoring appliance for data logging and alarming. Use to monitor temperature and humidity to identify hot spots and adjust the ambient temperature of your data center to reduce cooling power consumption while increasing efficiency within ASHRAE guidelines. Set multiple alarms and get alerts via email, SMS, SNMP or voice phone call. This is an instant 'Plug & Play' sensor via one of the standard RJ-12 jacks on any Watchdog environmental monitor. Analog sensors generally come in two types: analog voltage and dry contact.) Flood Sensor• Used to detect water leaks The flood sensor allows a Vertiv Geist Watchdog climate monitor to detect leaks that could damage your equipment. The sensor measures conductivity and indicates whether the sensor is dry, damp, or completely immersed in water. When water or other conductive liquid is present, a tiny electrical current flows between the metal contacts on the sensor. The more liquid, the higher the current. A cable attached to the sensor allows the climate monitor to detect the presence and severity of a leak. Door Position SensorWatchdog magnetic door position sensor offers a low-cost method to monitor access doors or cabinets that should remain closed. The noncontact magnetic switch mounts to the door of a server rack or equipment room and connects to a Watchdog climate monitor. Remotely check the door status through the web interface or use alarms to notify you if a door is open. Watchdog door position sensor/switch has four components: The magnet mounts to a door or access panel, while the switch mounts to the frame. When the door is closed the two pieces should be within 1/2" of each other. When the door opens this distance increases, eventually toggling the switch. This allows the Watchdog to know when the door is open. Connecting to a Watchdog Alarms Some units can also trigger an alarm buzzer or energize an output relay in response to an alarm. MORE SENSORS(Analog inputs show up on the web interface as "I/O" sensors. The default name for each input can be changed to reflect what is attached. Analog sensors generally come in two types: analog voltage and dry contact.) Current Transducer - Load Trend MonitoringCurrent transducer monitors the current being drawn by a particular device or group of devices. It also measures current ranges of 30, 60 and 120 amps, determined by a three-position switch. The unit outputs 0 to 5 VDC (proportional to current). Current transducer encircles a single power wire and transforms the AC amperage into a 0 to 5VDC signal suitable for input into a Watchdog climate monitor. A selector switch allows you to chose one of the sensor's three current ranges. The split-frame design of this Current transducer simplifies installation. The frame swings open and clamps around a current-carrying wire. Note that a single wire is necessary for current measurement. If two wires are placed in the Current transducer their magnetic fields will cancel each other and the current measurement will be inaccurate. Connecting to a Watchdog There are two ways to connect this sensor to a Watchdog. If an Analog Input is available, then you can connect the signal wires directly to the input terminals. However, if all inputs are being used or the unit doesn't have them, you can connect the sensor using a A2D analog-to-digital interface. This interface allows the Current transducer to connect to a digital sensor port. Alarms Features and Benefits Note: An A2D is required to connect an analog sensor to Watchdog environment monitors that only have digital ports. • Amperage range: 30, 60, 120 amps, AC Item # CT-30/60/120....$89 Analog to Digital InterfaceAnalog to digital converter, better known as the A2D, converts an analog sensor into a digital sensor that can be connected to a digital sensor-port on a Watchdog 15 or Watchdog 100 environment monitor. A2D allows you to interface an analog sensor to a plug-n-play digital sensor-port. A2D is useful for adding additional analog sensors when all of your existing analog inputs are already used up with other sensors. It is compatible with Watchdog sensors as well as any industry standard sensors that are dry-contact or that emit a 0-10VDC or 4-20mA signal. Features and Benefits Sensor Compatibility • Input Rating: 0-10VDC, 4-20mA, or dry contact Item # ....A2D-xxWater Sensing Cable KitSurround the periphery of a room or encircle rows of data cabinets with this water-sensing cable that detects liquid along the whole length. Put this cable around the periphery of your server room or around data cabinets and get early warning of water entry. Get an e-mail or page when water hits. Detect moisture over a wide area. This cable detects the presence of water or other conductive liquid over its entire length. Typically used to protect computer server rooms from water damage, Watchdog WaterSnake connects to a Watchdog monitoring appliance. When water is detected, the Watchdog climate monitor sends alerts by e-mail or SNMP trap. The sensing cable (orange wire) attaches to the floor using small nylon J-clips. The sensing cable connects to the leader cable which attaches to the wall-mounted interface box. Signals from the interface box run to the Watchdog. A LED on the box provides a visual indication of system status. The kit comes with wall mounted control box. Uses two Watchdog I/O ports. Reports when the cable is wet, disconnected or faulty. Connecting to the Watchdog There are two ways to connect the signal wires to the Watchdog. One option is to attach the wire to Analog Input terminals. The other option is to use two A2D interfaces. Each A2D converts the analog signal from a pair of wires into digital. This allows you to use digital sensor ports when analog inputs aren't available. Alarms Options include sending alerts through email or SNMP and depending on the Watchdog, trigger an alarm buzzer or energize an output relay. Alarm thresholds are configured through the web interface provided by the Watchdog. Compatibility Kit Includes Note: This sensor uses two analog inputs: two A2Ds are required for use with Watchdog monitors that don't have analog ports. • 2 dry-contact type signals (water detection, cable fault) Item #WSCK-xx WATER SENSING CABLE KIT DATA SHEET SD2 Photoelectric Smoke AlarmSD2 smoke alarm is a photoelectric type unit for use as an alert and relocate device in residential and commercial applications. SD2 is a low voltage smoke detector with built in interface to allow monitoring through the ports of an environmental or power+environmental monitoring unit equipped with analog-sensor inputs. A 12VDC power supply is attached and a and a 25 feet length, 2-conductor alarm wire is included for easy installation. When in alarm state, the monitored reading will drop below 10. Each smoke alarm has a solid state piezo signal to warn and alert to the presence of threatening smoke. SD2 photoelectric smoke alarm is designed to detect the smoke that results from an actual fire. Consequently, it is uncommon cigarette smoke or normal cooking smoke to cause an alarm. SD2 is a 120VAC photoelectric smoke alarm/detector with 9VDC battery back-up as an auxiliary power source in the event of an electrical failure. It features a warning signal for low or missing battery. SD2 smoke alarm operates on the photoelectric light scatter principle. The unit's sensing chamber houses a light source and a light sensor. The darkened sensing chamber is exposed to the atmosphere and designed to permit optimum smoke entry from any direction while rejecting light from outside the smoke alarm. The light source is an infrared (invisible) LED which pulses every 8 seconds. The light sensor is a photodiode matched to the light frequency of the LED light source. Under normal conditions, the light generated by the pulsing infrared LED is not seen by the light sensor, as it is positioned out of the direct path of the light beam. When smoke enters the sensing chamber, light from the pulsing LED light source is reflected by the smoke particles onto the photodiode light sensor. At the first sighting of smoke, the device is put into a pre-alarm mode. This is indicated by a rapidly flashing LED on the face of the smoke alarm. Once the light sensor confirms smoke for 2 consecutive pulses inside the chamber, the light sensor produces the signal necessary to trigger the alarm and sound the electronic horn. This technique of verifying the smoke condition, combined with a 5-to-1 signal-to-noise ratio, substantially reduces the possibility of nuisance alarms.
